I’ve seen low-budget movies. This film, however, seemed to be entirely financed by returning pop-bottles for their deposit.
Why is it that bringing Lovecraft to the screen always appears to be the preserve of the most inarticulate and amateurish film-makers? people who, moreover, have no understanding of or respect for the source material.
Gore is no substitute for having something to SAY, people.
This film is wretched; I wouldn’t even recommend its viewing for the purposes of torture at Gitmo.

Because they hate us.

It took me ages to get into Lovecraft, simply because of all the crappy movies based on his works.

It's just not right.

and Beyond the Wall of Sleep reminds me of The Smithereens "Behind the Wall of Sleep." I must go listen to them now.

I would LOVE to see "The Call of Cthulhu" done well as a period piece. I think that's probably HPLs most "cinematic" work.

The first time I saw the trailer for POTC 2, I went "Cthulhu! Damn. He's in everything!"

It's good to see him getting work.

That's just a Cthulhu-manque, though.

Yeah...I checked that out on imdb a week or so ago...it flagged all of my piece-of-shit signals.

To think that anyone "directed" that piece-o'-tripe boggles the mind.

It had "Allan Smithee" written all over it.
