Aside from the obvious answer (he can't because he doesn't have an original bone in his body) why doesn't Quentin Pinkerton Tarantino make a film that's not a direct rip-off of an obscure film he hopes no-one's heard of?
OK, maybe they're "FUN" as a friend of mine suggests, but what would you think of a painter whose entire body of work was copying other paintings?
What would you think of that painter being praised to the skies while the painters of the original (and arguably better) works languished in obscurity?

So, here's my challenge to QPT; prove me wrong by making a really good, really original film that isn't wholly based on some other film you've watched. Pick a book that no-one's filmed yet, and make THAT.

Just imagine, for instance, the letters home by http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lillie_de_Hegermann-Lindencrone done by Tarantino as a film!
Extra pun for hitherto free: the best scene in a much better (though not that well either) novel by http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wilde-West-Walter-Satterthwaite/dp/0312059973 has in my humble opinion simply copied it from the actual (though their historical accurateness may need a bit of proof, too;) books of H-Lindencrone. Of course, her personal output holds no copyright in any country anymore, if she or anyone indeed ever did so, it´s for free, right?!

I agree her life would make a fascinating movie, but in QPT's hands it would be as puerile and pointlessly anachronistic as Sofia Coppolas "Marie Antoinette"
