APPARENTLY, the new Star Trek movie that's in the works takes place during Kirks' Star Fleet Academy days.
Who's playing Kirk you ask? What young actor in his early twenties (when people GO to service academies) will be given the coveted role?

The THIRTY-SIX YEAR OLD Matt Damon, of course.

As long as the fight scenes are the same as they are in the Bourne movies, I'm in!

which is more a slap in the face: this, or heath ledger as the joker?

This, I think. Heath Ledger as the TEENAGED Joker would be worse.
I mean, it's not like there aren't young actors out there who could play someone in their twenties...and twenties are at the OUTSIDE. People at West point or annapolis are usually 18-22, college aged. Matt Damon is TWICE that old, fer chrissakes

that is a fair point.

& think on this:

if they're gonna get someone obviously too old for the role, why not get shatner?

I can only ascribe this to "lack of invention"

I do agree with you that it's ridiculous to have a 40 year old play a 20 year old, HOWEVER

I would like to see Matt Damon in a Star Trek movie!

I really have no problem with Matt Damon per se, it's just ridiculous casting.

Damn, that sucks.

Let's boycott the movie!!! I mean I love Star Trek but that casting just plain sucks ass. I will not be seeing it.

I think I'll download this from the internet, and I NEVER do that.
After I download it, I'll delete it without watching it, as a protest.
