I feel like I'm stagnating

Please recommend to me

1) a book
2) a film
3) some music

I feel like I just keep re-hashing the same sort of stuff. Please don't recommend something you "think I'd like" based on what you know about me, and things I've said I've liked. Take me outside my comfort-zone.

This is hard given how much I talk up stuff anyway, uh, okay

1) A Whale for the Killing, Farley Mowat
2) Water
3) DJ Champion

1. "The House of Sleep" by Jonathan Coe or if you need cake: anything by http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_McCall_Smith like the No.1 Ladies´ Detective Agency series though I prefer The Sunday Philosophy Club. Don´t take too many at a time, throw in something earnest and depressing inbetween. They´re all a bit Chestertonian (another tip; read that man) like Four Faultless Felons since nobody actually ever gets murdered in them.

2. "Molière" by Ariane Mnouchkine http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ariane_Mnouchkine (founder of the Theatre du Soleil). That one, no other version! It is almost five hours long (I saw the premiere in Stockholm with an half-hour pause) and worth every single minute of it. I still have pictures in my mind of golden gondolas and a carnival. Can be ordered online nowadays, I think.

3. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flamma_Flamma by Nicholas Lens when you feel like being serious and James Leg aka The Black Heavy Diamonds when you need your whisky straight.
