Not just "no", but "HELL NO". Don't the police have too many bullshit laws to enforce already? Shouldn't they be concentrating on ACTUAL crime?

I'm also amazed by how many people who would advocate legalizing drug use are for stupid laws like this

much better to nationalize the tobacco industries and use that position of power to systematically wipe the species of plant from the planet.

the eternal question

is it the tobacco that kills you or all the shit they add to it / or, better yet, the fact that tobacco - because it isn't a food product - can be grown in fertilizer contaminated by uranium tailings ..

Isn´t this why people already have to have their drink from a brown paper bag and can be arrested for doing it on their private balcony in some countries? Also, nobody would be out on the streets anymore. A doorway surely belongs to a house so those would be full of very slim smokers burning holes in each other´s clothing, sounds like good clean fun. No wonder many prefer hard drugs that can be used discreetly anywhere. Smoking on streets a crime? Sure! Imagine the prisons of the future. It will be where people meet and mingle in a much more exciting social context than those provided today by bars of the other kind.

Agreed.
All that happens when new laws are created is that new criminals are created

To save the species, first of all we have to forbid sex. It´s clearly an addictive disease. Once this Missionary Thing has been properly managed, all else shall follow in it´s...er: footsteps. Finally, earth will once again look like one of those little pamphlets offered one on any street corner by anti-erotic ladies where wolves cuddle with sheep (not to be misunderstood, mind you). No people, no more. I´ll go live on the moon, after all: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moon_Maiden_%28comics%29
