A few thoughts...
Jan. 19th, 2013 02:49 pm"We need to do SOMETHING" is the worst Goddamned reason there is to pass a law; especially a law that will curtail the choices other adults get to make.
"You don't NEED it" is a frikkin' preposterous reason to curtail the choices other adults get to make.
"Only a small amount of people will be affected" is VASTLY beside the point in a democracy.
The above is true whether you're talking about legalizing gay marriage, the legality of abortion, gun control laws, taxation levels, cheese or chalk.
-EDIT- To put this as simply as I'm able; Those that agree with the idea of individual choice ONLY insofar as they agree with the specific choices being made DO NOT truly believe in individual liberty
