Ummmm....what?
Mar. 9th, 2012 08:03 am“There’s also something inherently misleading, naive, maybe even dangerous, about the idea of rescuing children or saving of Africa. […] It hints uncomfortably of the White Man’s Burden. Worse, sometimes it does more than hint. The savior attitude is pervasive in advocacy, and it inevitably shapes programming. Usually misconceived programming.”
- Chris Blattman, a political scientist at Yale, on the topic of Invisible Children’s programming
So the answer then is do nothing rather than APPEAR to be ascribing to a politically incorrect notion, or run the risk of doing something "misconceived"?
THAT's brilliant.
I'm wondering what children who are being helped would think of calling for an end to such aid for that reason?
Some peoples thought processes are so tortuously twisted and their heads are so far up their own asses they've turned into human Mobius strips.
