Beating the Drum: A Holiday Tradition
Dec. 4th, 2006 06:58 amThis year, (as we have for the past four years) my family decided that we all had enough stuff. So, we're pooling all of the money we'd usually spend buying Christmas presents for each other and using it to make a donation to These Fine Folks . It's an organization that provides not just food, but a sustainable livelihood to people. You make the donation, and the organization buys livestock or crops for people in need around the world. By doing this, people are able to start new economies, to begin to be able to feed and clothe themselves, to begin to make a change in the world, in the cycle of poverty. Then, the first fruits of these donations are used to help OTHER people in need, and so on. I'd like to invite anyone else who thinks they have enough stuff to look into making a donation to this organization. There are a lot of different levels of donations, starting at about $10. Happy Holidays!
