Sacramento dreaming
We should pay FIVE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS to build an arena so a team of multi-millionaires owned by billionaires can play basketball? And so later, the team can decide to move to another city that "gives them a better deal"?
HOW exactly is that different than blackmail?
Now, the argument is that we NEED the Kings here, or we'll be "no better than Duluth"? Fuck off, that's retarded.
"But the Kings make Sacramento a destination city"? PROVE it.
"The Downtown Arena development will revitalize downtown business". So would giving them FIVE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS; just cut out the middle-man.
"But the Kings will leave" They probably will eventually, ANYWAY. Let another city foot the bill for those thieves. If EVERY city banded together and made a "no negotiations with terrorists" pact, no one would ever have to deal with this shit again. That'd serve those fuckers right.
"But Bluto, we NEED a new arena". THAT'S true, but we do NOT need to give all (or, by some accounts 85%)of the profits of said arena to the frikkin Maloofs.
While there are concrete reasons to build an arena, when the Maloofs and their extortionate ilk are in the mix, the idea makes me want to vomit.
