I am the very model of a modern Major-General,
I’ve information vegetable, animal, and mineral,
I know the kings of England, and I quote the fights historical
From Marathon to Waterloo, in order categorical;
I’m very well acquainted, too, with matters mathematical,
I understand equations, both the simple and quadratical,
About binomial theorem I’m teeming with a lot o’ news –
With many cheerful facts about the square of the hypotenuse.

I love this song, it's often running (incorrectly) through my head

It's a VERY hard song to memorize, but yes, I love it too

Well, I honestly didn't think so.

An easier tune to memorize is Naploeon XIV's "Split Level Head." Try that sometime. :)

Can I curl up in your lap and have you sing it to me?

you certainly may :)

I just called you.

Ah, now I have something other than "A policeman's lot is not a happy one" stuck in my head. I don't need to buy Gilbert and Sullivan recordings, the songs just lodge themselves in my brain without warning. Fortunately I like that sort of thing, although it's about the only musical theater I can stand if you don't count Hindi films.

do things get harder to memorize when you're older? I have that song (and dozens of others) memorized...
